Brocade Customers "Predict the Future" with Cloud-Optimized Application Delivery Switches

Brocade announced that it is rolling out advancements to its ServerIron ADX series of cloud-optimized application delivery switches. These switches are designed to help customers gain greater application control and service scalability.
ADX, dubbed OpenScript, is an open platform for innovation, with the ability to intelligently predict the effect on the network before developers introduce scripts into production. Brocade's OpenScript is built on Perl, a standards-based programming language which allows Brocade ADX customers to customize their service delivery for improved scalability and performance.
Keith Stewart, director product management for Application Delivery Products at Brocade said, "The OpenScript engine is a high-performance protocol and application level decoding system that breaks apart live sessions in application traffic that is moving across the network and serves that up to higher-layer scripts through protocol APIs. Those protocol APIs are effectively like LEGO blocks where you can use them to build monitoring, acceleration and security applications all on top of a common scripting environment."
To aid in the implementation and development of OpenScript, and to foster developer interaction; Brocade even created the OpenScript community, a collaboration platform where you can learn, share, and discuss dynamic data-driven application development and delivery. It includes the API documentation, introductory and advanced OpenScript guides, as well as lots of validated example scripts provided by Brocade on the community site. You can also contribute your own custom scripts to the community.
With its latest innovation, Brocade is showing that it understands how critical service customization and traffic manipulation are for businesses as they move to deliver cloud-based services. The OpenScript engine promises network operators the freedom they need to deploy custom capabilities to meet their individualized needs.
In Brocade’s press release they quote Rob Jackson, Solution Line Leader for Networking and Security at Rackspace as saying, "Application delivery performance, scalability and flexibility are critical requirements for our customers. These requirements have a direct effect on our ability to scale our business while exceeding customer expectations. With the Brocade ServerIron ADX, we look forward to continuing our success with the platform and implementing stable, customizable traffic management capabilities so that our new and existing customers can maintain greater application control."
The Brocade ServerIron ADX software release version 12.4 is available now. This is a no-cost software upgrade for customers with valid service contracts. To upgrade contact Brocade as soon as you can or if you are a current XSi Alternative to Brocade maintenance customer, call our TAC center.
