The Onyx2’s last version of CPU is an R12000 microprocessor. The R12000 key features are:

R12000 microprocessor is a four-way superscalar architecture fetching/decoding four instructions per cycle.

Queues determine execution order based on availability of required execution units.

Instructions initially fetched/decoded in order can be executed/completed out of order – up to 32 instructions in various stages of execution.
