Cisco SmartNet® alternatives for federal government agencies gain acceptance, support

DATELINE- XS International, a provider of original Cisco SMARTNET® and Cisco-quality alternative third-party maintenance and support, consulting, and IT technologies for federal organizations like the NOAA and the U.S. Navy, announces a record number of agencies renewing data center support contracts. In 2010, 100% of federal agencies contracted with XSi either renewed their support commitment or renewed and extended the timeframe of their agreement. The renewal rate confirms the effectiveness of OEM alternatives, and indicates a widespread acceptance of such service in the marketplace.

“A 100% renewal rate indicates that federal agencies are ready for Cisco SMARTnet® alternative goods and services. Agencies of all levels and capacities find that our contracts improve productivity and cut operating costs, when compared to Cisco’s OEM service,” Said Todd Bone, CEO of XSi. “We have also seen an increase in new interest inspired by our blended approach, which combines Cisco original SMARTnet® for upgrade-intensive products and our Alternative offering for Cisco products that only require security patches. This minimizes the overall cost of the contract while strengthening customer networks.”

Federal agencies interested in alternatives to costly Cisco SMARTnet® contracts sometimes hesitate because they are unaware that products and services are found in GSA schedules. In fact, XSi recently added over 65,000 unique SKUs in their GSA schedule, and now have over 76,000 SKUs in their GSA schedule.

Federal and state agencies renewing contracts with XSi are shrinking costs and maximizing productivity in the data center, often after finding that Cisco and other OEM services can be unresponsive and costly. They continue to work with XSi because XSi often provides service that is faster and more effective, for up to 40% less over the life of the contract.
